"Ladies' Pantalettes (2)", also known as<br> "Ladies' Pandeletts" is an Irish reel in G Minor. The parts are played AB.<br> The tune is a minor mode setting of "The Ladies' Pantalettes (1)".<br> An explanation of the "Ladies Pantalettes" title comes from the Irish linguistic scholar<br> Diarmuid O'Muir. In the days of wooden sailing ships, occasionally great effort would be made<br> to get the very best performance from the vessel. This usually meant putting on as much sail<br> as possible and every scrap of available canvas was utilized. The very last tiny sail,<br> situated above the top gallants and the skyscraper at the top of the mast was known as 'the<br> ladies pantalettes'.<br> It was printed in Ryan's Mammoth Collection (1883) and<br> Cole's 1000 Fiddle Tunes (1940) (appears as "Ladies' Pandeletts").<br>
